Senior DevOps Engineer

IQGeo is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to support our Web and Mobile Software cloud and delivery efforts for domestic and international enterprise customers. Our Operations teams (Engineering and Delivery), co-located in Denver, CO and Cambridge, UK, with remote employees around the globe, are responsible for design, development, delivery, and support of our geospatial products. As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will work across and closely with the Operations teams to ensure server environments are configured, built and running smoothly. The role is expected to be capable of working independently, and as a team member, and should have working experience with DevOps methodologies.


Responsibilities

Cloud Engineering

  • Work with Product Engineering to design CI/CD processes for quickly deploying new customer systems and updating existing ones
  • Design, implement and support Product Engineering, Delivery, and customer’s AWS environments
  • Support and help expand CI/CD environment
  • Coordinate pen testing and code/virus scanning, and disseminate findings to delivery and development teams for resolution
  • Work with QA and Delivery teams to expand performance, load, and scalability tests
  • Deploy applications via automation with configuration management tools
  • Measure performance and environment of application with system and application log tools

Delivery

  • Partner with customer IT and business stakeholders to lead the technical design of IQGeo solutions in the most efficient, low-risk and cost-effective manner
  • Produce detailed functional design documents and technical specification documents to match customer requirements
  • Liaise with Product Engineering to ensure technical alignment and that best practice approaches as well as industry and internal standards are being used
  • Participate in and lead technical meetings with customers
  • Estimate solution implementation efforts and support correct scoping of projects
  • Aid in project delivery efforts when necessary

Sales/Pre-sales

  • Explain our processes to prospective customers when necessary
  • Help pre-sales with customer POC systems when necessary
Required skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
  • Proficient scripting skills, preferably in Python, BASH, etc
  • Strong knowledge of Linux
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience designing CI/CD processes, including automated testing, and with CI/CD tools, like Jenkins
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of time to client locations
Desired skills
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools, especially Terraform
  • Experience running systems both in public cloud, especially AWS
  • Experience with bug tracking tools, automation scripting languages, and code repositories
  • Experience with orchestration tools like Rancher, OpenShift, etc
Education and experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and/or equivalent experience
  • At least 5 years related experience required
  • US or UK citizenship (or permanent residency required)
