NetLux AI will provide real-time verification of fiber installation work, helping UGG accelerate network deployment across Germany
Cambridge, 9 July 2026 — IQGeo, a developer of AI-powered geospatial software that is paving the way for autonomous networks, today announced that it has signed an agreement with Unsere Grüne Glasfaser (UGG), a leading German fiber network operator backed by Allianz and Telefónica, to deploy IQGeo’s NetLux AI solution across its installation operations.
By integrating NetLux AI capabilities into its field application, UGG will enable technicians and build partners to receive real-time feedback on installation quality directly in the field. The deployment will use AI-powered computer vision to automatically verify critical stages of the fiber connection process, helping ensure work is completed correctly before technicians leave site.
The implementation will initially focus on validating key installation activities including optical network terminal (ONT) installation, fiber termination points, sealing work and home connection quality. AI models will assess both the quality of the installation itself and the quality of the supporting documentation, providing immediate guidance to technicians when corrective action is required.
“Our ambition is to build Germany’s fiber infrastructure faster, with consistently higher quality, and with the next generation tools needed to support the country’s digital future” said Markus Keller, IT Director at UGG. “Integrating AI-driven quality assurance into field operations will help our contractors work to the same standard regardless of location or experience. That creates a better outcome for our customers and a more scalable model for network expansion."
UGG’s deployment will also support offline operation, allowing technicians to receive AI-driven guidance in locations where mobile connectivity is limited. As models mature, selected quality checks will run directly on devices, ensuring field teams can continue working efficiently regardless of network availability.
“A digital twin is only as good as the data it’s built on,” said Rouven Hertenstein, Managing Director, IQGeo Germany. “By embedding visual AI into every installation, UGG is creating a reliable data foundation for continuous network lifecycle management, from planning and rollout through to operations and maintenance.”
The agreement reflects growing industry demand for greater automation across physical network operations. By validating work as it happens, operators can establish the trusted network data that forms the bedrock of autonomous networks.
