Solutions Engineer

The IQGeo Enterprise Sales team is seeking a Solutions Engineer in our Denver or Remote Home Office location to support sales activity by providing technical and industry expertise of software products to existing and potential customers. This role is customer-facing and supports the Sales team and industry executives during the product evaluation process. The role will be key in formulating customer requirements and our proposed solution, responsible for the definition, implementation of product demonstrations to customers and supporting the bid process. Creating and demonstrating how the software works to solve real problems will require your ingenuity, creativity, and strong technical, software, and communication skills.

Position is ideally located in Denver, CO, though open to remote employment. Main duties
  • The Solutions Engineer supports the sales team to drive new orders and revenue by:
  • Pro-actively engage in the sales cycle and take charge of the technical aspects and deliverables during the potential customer's product evaluation
  • Meetings with customers early in the development cycle to fully appreciate and understand the problem the customer is trying to solve
  • Define and implement appropriate demonstrations to fulfill the customer’s needs
  • Confidently present these to the customer at the appropriate level
  • Contribute to the development of proposals and estimations
  • Represent the company at trade shows and conferences
  • Play an active role in the introduction of new products into the market
  • Build and maintain close links with our development and implementation teams, including implementation partners, to ensure the smooth transition from concept to production implementation
  • Develop relationships with IT staff and key business users to position IQGeo as an enterprise partner. Answers technical questions from customers and prospects
  • Supports the development of strategic customer account plans
  • Support Sales with client business case development, as applicable
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned
Required skills/abilities
  • Ability to build demonstrations to present to the customer (end users, technical experts, IT experts, senior management) and internal Sales Directors
  • Minimum 1 year of software programming or similar focused training
  • Demonstrated knowledge of JavaScript, Python, and databases
  • Experience with SQL and RDBMS technology helpful (PostgreSQL, SQLite)
  • Optional experience with Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) or web mapping (ESRI, QGIS)
  • Optional experience with ETL tools such Safe Software’s FME or GeoKettle is desirable
  • Experience with any of the Cloud practices (AWS, Azure, GCP) is helpful
  • Excellent communication, client relationship and interpersonal skills
  • A hands-on problem solver, with ability to think on your feet and change approach as required
  • Excellent interpersonal and decision-making skills as well as the confidence to present at all levels
  • Like to figure out things/solve interesting software problems/enjoys challenging and multiple assignments
  • Excellent sales and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Being open and flexible with regards to time management
Education and experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant Engineering, Computer Science, or Technical Diploma program
  • Minimum 1 year of technology and industry experience
