Software Engineer

Ghent, Belgium

IQGeo is seeking an enthusiastic Software Engineer to help us move our Quality Assurance to being majority-automated. You’ll be a software engineer that enjoys building and maintaining automated test suites of many hundreds of tests for our various products, contributing to manual testing only when automation is not practical. The application to test produces computer-aided designs for complex networks, hence validating the correctness of the output can be quite challenging and requires insight into how these networks are engineered.

Our Engineering department, with teams located in Cambridge (UK), Denver (USA), Salt Lake City (USA), and Ghent (Belgium) is responsible for designing and developing our Geospatial products. As a Software Engineer, you will be a part of the Ghent R&D Engineering team, where you will be involved in the development of our auto-design tools for planning Fiber and District Heating networks, and possible future extensions to other utility sectors (e.g., Smart Grids). The person in this role is expected to be capable of working independently, and as a team member, and should have experience working with complex software business and enterprise applications.

Responsibilities

As an integral part of the Engineering team, the successful candidate will be responsible for automating the test process of new product releases to ensure we can release fast and at high quality. You’ll need to:

  • Ensure that our enterprise applications are delivered with the appropriate level of quality.
  • Capture the requirements and acceptance criteria of newly developed functionality in test cases and manage the overall inventory of test cases to ensure it remains up to date.
  • Minimize the need for manual testing by transforming suitable test cases into automated tests.
  • Collaborate with Product Management on refining feature requests, ensuring testability stays top of mind when transforming the requirements to implementation.
  • While manual exploratory or regression testing is not the primary focus of this role, it is expected to be part of the workload at times
