DevOps Engineer

Ghent, Belgium

IQGeo is seeking a DevOps Engineer to support our Research and Development efforts for domestic and international enterprise customers. As an integral part of the Engineering department, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines that support our IQGeo products, targeting customers in the Utility and Telecommunications markets.  Our Engineering department, with teams located in Cambridge (UK), Denver (USA), Salt Lake City (USA), and Ghent (Belgium) is responsible for designing and developing our Geospatial products. As a DevOps Engineer, you will be a part of the Ghent R&D team, where you will be involved in the cloud deployment of our auto-design applications for planning Fiber and District Heating networks, and possible future extensions to other utility sectors (e.g., Smart Grids). The person in this role is expected to be capable of working independently, and as a team member, and should have experience working with complex software business and enterprise applications.

Responsibilities

As an integral part of the R&D team, the successful candidate will be orchestrating the deployment of new product releases to meet the growing list of requirements for our existing auto-design products and that of new industry vertical applications.

Your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Your focus is on the infrastructure needs of our product portfolio and how these can be transformed in automated deployment pipelines.
  • Collaborate with Product Management on refining feature requests, ensuring a smooth transition from requirements to implementation.
  • Work in an Agile environment, having frequent meetings with co-workers throughout the development cycle.
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned.
Person Specification

Successful candidates will be enthusiastic individuals with a strong technical background in general software engineering skills related to the following:

Essential

  • Excellent knowledge of infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform), containerization (e.g., Docker), and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes).
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure provider platforms (e.g., Amazon Web Services).
  • Experience setting up and maintaining pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, able to present technical concepts.

Desired

  • Knowledge of Java and/or Python is desirable.
  • Knowledge of TypeScript (Angular) and HTML design and development is a plus.
  • Experience with Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) or web mapping is a plus.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.

Education and Experience
  • Master’s Degree from an accredited university in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
