HR Officer

Ghent, Belgium

IQGeo has an exciting opportunity for an eager HR Officer in Ghent, Belgium. This person will support a team of growing software engineers with all aspects of the employee experience, including recruiting, on-boarding, payroll, benefits, facilities, compliance, compensation, and collaboration on global initiatives. As the sole HR representative in Ghent, the HR Officer will support the business services function and work with technical software talent in a modern office facility, enjoy flexible working arrangements, and be part of a global, fast-growing technology company.

In a perfect scenario, you will possess experience in Belgian Payroll, compensation, benefits, and HR processes and you must be able to easily translate and provide documentation and other communications in both English and Dutch. The role reports to the HR Manager at company headquarters in Cambridge, UK.

Responsibilities
  • Monthly Belgium payroll activities.
  • Onboarding and offboarding staff in Belgium
  • Supporting recruitment within Belgium, including, reviewing job specs, interviewing candidates, attending, and organising job fairs and processing and preparing job offers.
  • Training and development support for staff.
  • Support for staff in Belgian office.
  • Monitor and update professional information and regulations, translate into HR guidelines and Belgian manuals and policies to support HR Manager.
  • Keeping current on and reviewing and supporting the implementation of legislative changes in line with Belgian labour laws.
  • Facilitating a Works council set up and compliance when required.
  • General HR administration and Belgium flexible benefits administration.
  • Answering general HR / Payroll queries, point of contact for employees.
  • Partner and collaborate with staff and managers in all functional areas, including Finance, IT, Sales, Customer Service, and Engineering.
  • Support HR Manager with data reporting, existing and new initiatives, and provide feedback on general employee wellbeing.
  • Supporting company and external audits as required.
  • Any other related duties as required.
Person Specification
  • 3-5 years’ experience working in a similar role.
  • Experience / working knowledge of Belgian payroll.
  • Experience / working knowledge of HR processes.
  • Pro-active and detail-oriented, problem-solving, can-do attitude.
  • Excel at delivering accurate and timely results in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Be a reliable, dependable, and approachable person.
  • A healthy dose of enthusiasm and flexibility.
  • Comfortable taking on new tasks and responsibilities and challenging the status quo.
  • Articulate, discrete and people oriented.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Fluency (written / spoken) in Dutch and English.
  • Good computer skills, especially with MS Office and Excel.

This role will be based out of our Ghent office, with a flexible schedule where you can also work from home. We are welcoming applications from candidates that wish to work 4 or 5 days per week. Some travel may be available on occasions such as to job fairs or to company HQ.
