QA Engineer

Ghent, Belgium

The technical implementation department is dedicated to enhancing the client experience through the design, implementation, and delivery of projects for IQGeo’s Web and Mobile Mapping Software for our EMEA based customers, ranging from local municipalities to international Tier 1 companies.  The T.I. department sits within IQGeo’s Global Customer Services Organization while our flexible scheduling and outstanding benefits support success in a highly creative, innovative, and energetic company.

As an integral part of the IQGeo Technical Implementation Team, the successful candidate will will join one or more scrum teams to ensure the quality level of customisations and deployments of IQGeo products in the Utility and Telecommunications markets. The person in this role is expected to work independently and collaboratively, leveraging a working knowledge of Quality Assurance, including test strategy, test design, test execution and, test reporting. 

A key part of the role will be interacting with both internal and external stakeholders and contributing to the continuous improvement initiatives in collaboration with peers.

The Quality Assurance Engineer role is based in Belgium to support our growing European customer base.

Our Engineering teams are in Cambridge (UK), Denver (USA), Salt Lake City (USA), and Ghent (Belgium) and are responsible for designing and developing our geospatial products which are available both as cloud services and for on-premises deployment. You will be helping to develop the next generation of innovative geospatial products that support mission-critical operations for our global customer base.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the appropriate level of quality is incorporated into our customer implementations and customisations.
  • Craft test artifacts including Test Strategy, Test Execution Status Reports, and Defect Reports.
  • Collaborate with the Product Owner to analyze, review and clarify the created user stories (business requirements)
  • Collaborate with the Development team to translate the business requirements into test cases and test scripts and integrate these into efficient test plans
  • Test enterprise level software through all phases of the test lifecycle
  • Assist customer(s) with UAT planning as needed
  • Maintain and communicate QA metrics to internal and customer partners via status/metrics reports
  • Interact, communicate, and follow through with development & customer teams throughout testing phase
Person Specification

Essential

  • 3+ years of Test Engineer experience
  • Strong understanding of SQA methodologies.
  • Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodology and working experience in an Agile environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify, isolate and document defects
  • Experience in enterprise level software deployments
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Desirable

  • Understanding of test automation framework design models and standard methodologies
  • Experience working with Geospatial Information Systems or web mapping software.
  • Experience with utility or telecoms industries.
Education and Experience
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent work experience is preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of comparable technology and industry experience.
